Organs work in the same way if they are transplanted or natural to the person. The only problem is that our bodies have lots of defenses to protect us against ‘foreign’ materials in our body. So sometimes, the person who gets the transplat will have their body ‘reject’ the organ and start attacking it in the same way that our body would attack a germ or a cold virus. For that reason, people with transplants need to be on ‘immunosuppressant’ drugs, or drugs that slow down the body’s attack on foreign substances.
