      I think when I describe something to someone I rely on us both having a shared idea. I could describe the rain falling on a tent, and although you might not have been camping in the rain I could say it was like soft peas falling on a drum. You could imagine what that sounds like if you haven’t heard it. But if you’d never heard anything my description would be meaningless.
      Your question is really interesting because it highlights that our sensations are personal to us and that we have to communicate with others to understand them.
